What is Microblading?

Microblading is an innovative new technique by which pigment is manually deposited under the upper region of the dermis, in strategically placed strokes which mimic the appearance of the client’s existing brow hair. Although considered a cosmetic tattoo, this method offers a more natural looking brow than the traditional eyebrow tattoo procedure and is semi-permanent in nature, lasting from one to three years. A hand tool comprised of tiny needles, grouped together in a linear formation, allows your brow technician to create individual hair like strokes in the areas necessary to give you the fuller, more flawless eyebrows you desire. The hand tool helps to minimize the risk of mechanical error that comes with using a machine.

This procedure is ideal for individuals who have sparse, misshapen, over plucked, or non-existent brows due to hair loss, age, etc. Or for those who simply desire more sculpted brows they don’t have to pencil in every day!

What is the difference between Microblading, Combo Brows, and Ombré Brows?

Microblading is the primary form of the semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing. With the proper skin type, technique, and aftercare, Microblading will result in a very natural looking brow enhancement.

Combo Brows is a combination of Microblading hair stokes and manual or machine shading, resulting in a more powdery or filled-in effect. This technique is ideal for clients with oily skin, or those who desire a more bold brow. It also lasts longer, on average, than Microblading alone, due to the process used to implant pigment, and the level of saturation added to the tail end of the eyebrows.

Ombré involves no manual hair strobe creation, but rather the sole use of a cosmetic tattoo machine to create an airbrushed or powder effect on the entire brow area. The head of the brow is lightest, and gradually transitions to bold structure on the tails.
All techniques lighten as they heal, resulting is soft, get up and go brows!

How long does an eyebrow procedure take and when should I get a touchup?

The initial appointment takes about 2 hours, depending on skin type and nature of your eyebrows. During your initial visit, you will complete your intake paperwork and have a brief consultation, where all necessary factors will be assessed in order to ensure that the procedure can be performed. Numbing gel is then applied to the brow area and measurements are taken for precision, and to confirm your desired style and shape, based on your natural features. Once the technician confirms that you are satisfied with the shape designed for your eyebrows, the mircoblading procedure will begin.

Your perfecting session should be scheduled 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment. This session can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on how the brows healed. During the perfecting session, we will assess the color retention and enhance any areas that have faded. It is very important that clients prioritize their touch up just as much as their initial treatment, as this can affect achieving the best results possible.
How frequently you will need a touch-up following your perfecting session depends on how well your skin absorbs the ink or if it fades. This is determined by a number of factors, which come into play, such as skin type, exposure to sun, lifestyle, chemical peels, certain body deficiencies, etc. We are happy to advise if another touch up is needed, but eyebrows would have to be assessed. As a general recommendation, for clients who have oily skin, work out and sweat frequently, or participate in activities that involve swimming in chlorine water or constant exposure to the sun, a touch up every six months would be advised.
